Pomona lies in between the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire in Los Angeles County, California. As of 2005, the population of Pomona was approximately 160,815, making it the fifth largest city in Los Angeles County.
The L.A. County Fair and the NHRA Auto Club Raceway at Pomona are hosted by Fairplex, which is located in the city. The raceway, which used to be called Pomona Raceway, is the location where the Powerade Winternationals Drag Racing competition is held.
Rapid expansion has been occurring in Phillips Ranch, the newest neighbourhood in Pomona, since the 1980‘s. The area itself is mostly residential properties and is still undergoing development between Downtown and Diamond Bar. Another area that is currently getting renovated with new housing and aesthetic reconstruction is Northern Pomona.
